It is not known why this Sabre was flown to Aylmer - but, while it was being refuelled the ground crew either forgot to fasten the grounding cable or it dropped off. A spark ignited the fuel which had been spilt on the ground when the refuelling tender pulled away - and I guess you could say "the rest is history".
