I visited what was once RCAF/CFS Station Sydney on 5 August 2003. It was very hard to look at. What was once a proud Air Force community at CFS Sydney has gone down the tubes. The persons responsible for selling the old Radar Stations (and that includes all 44) should have had stipulations that if a building on the property was deemed surplus - it should be torn down and the area seeded. The Rec Centre, barracks, guard house etc. are all derelict. Of all the old PMQ's rented, there was only one family that had enough pride to plant flowers and mow the lawn. The old Combined mess hall which also housed the Sgts & Officers Mess as well as the HQ building has been remodeled and I think the Curling Club is still in use.
