Saturday – Lovely summer day but strong wind. No dance in Rec. Hall this weekend. Liberty Run filled up. Many fishermen taking advantage of fine weather.

Sunday – RC Church services and Protestant Sunday School in the afternoon. Opening softball games of the season with W/C Snider throwing out the first ball of the season.

Monday – CO’s Conference this morning. F/O Walker away on TD to St. Hubert for two days. F/O Kuzyk here for day. F/C Turcotte reported in.

Tuesday – Dark rainy day. CO away to ADC for the day. S/L McKergow here for the day.

Wednesday – Bright sunny day. LAC and Mrs. Juett become proud parents of a baby boy in the Station Hospital.

Thursday – Fairly quiet day with normal station routine.

Friday – CO’s Inspection in the morning. Quiet cool most of the day. F/C Watson reported in today.

Saturday – Air Force Day. Various station activities. Formal dance in the Rec. Hall in the evening.

Sunday – Protestant and RC Church services today. Rev. Keith Eddy, United Church, Kenogami, conducted the Protestant service in the morning. Bagotville men’s softball team here for an evening game and were badly beaten by Mont Apica.

Monday – Extremely warm day. F/C Bordeleau reported in. F/O Buchan here from ADCHQ for the day.

Tuesday – CO’s Conference this morning. Offices extremely warm and uncomfortable. F/L Sturgor here from ADCHQ.

Wednesday – Station quiet with normal routine work.

Thursday – Cpl. and Mrs. Rievelay greeted a baby girl in the Station Hospital. Warm weather continues. F/L Strugor left today.

Friday – CO’s Inspection in the morning. Heavy rain all day and evening.

Saturday – Liberty Run full in the morning. Dance in the Rec. Hall not too well attended.

Sunday – Sunday School closing held in the Station Theatre in the morning. RC Church services today.

Monday – Still extremely warm. Usual station routine.

Tuesday – S/L Austin on the station for the day. F/L McMahon, RC Padre, reported in for Special Duty from St. Margarets. Extremely fierce thunderstorm during night.

Wednesday – Townsite quiet after busy nights activity. Extremely humid with rain off and on.

Thursday – Dull and cold. School finished today for the summer. Teachers preparing to leave the station by the weekend.

Friday – CO’s Inspection in the morning, also CO’s Parade. Dull and rainy all day and night. Cpl’s. Club Supper Dance in the evening a complete success.

Saturday – Track and Field Day on the station. Wonderful weather all day. LAC Berry was easily the star of the day. Cpl’s. Club won the trophy with a total of 139 points, with the Airmen placing a close second with 108 points. Dance in the Rec. Hall not too well attended.

Sunday – RC Church services during the day. Earlier part of the day very warm with many in the pool. Late afternoon rain and thunder showers finished outdoor recreation. F/O Stewart, new PAdO, in today.

Monday – Dully muggy day, threatening rain. F/O Stewart, new PAdO, at work this morning. F/L McMahon left today. Also, F/L Stewart the new SAO arrived.

Tuesday – CO’s Conference in the morning. Rain most of the day and evening. Salk vaccine injections given the dependents on station.

Wednesday – Dark and very warm. Preparations well under was to provide accommodation for Reserves for summer camp.

Thursday – Final preparations for A/C Reyno’s visit being made today.

Friday – A/C Reyno and party arrived at noon and after luncheon made several inspections of the station. Cocktails were served in the Senior NCO’s Mess with a Dining-In Night in the Officers Mess in the evening. F/O Walker leaving for new position at ADC today.

Saturday – Rainy off and on all day. Dance in the Rec. Hall in the evening – not too well attended. Liberty Run very full to Quebec.

Sunday – RC Church services today. Weather dull and rainy. LAC and Mrs. Moore welcomed a daughter in the station hospital.

Monday – Dominion Day. Steady rain most of the day dampened even the most enthusiastic fisherman’s spirit. Station quiet. F/L Pus away for a weeks leave.

Tuesday – F/C Fenton reported for work this morning to assist the CAdO. F/O Temple at work in the Admin Section after receiving her transfer to Admin from the Fighter Controller Branch.

Wednesday – Many preparations still being made for arrival of Auxiliary personnel with extra beds being set up.

Thursday – Lovely warm weather. Many off-duty personnel taking advantage of fishing. Station quiet.

Friday – CO’s Inspection in the morning. Auxiliary personnel arrived on the station late in the evening.

Saturday – Dull and rainy to regular downpour for hours in the evening. Dance in the Rec. Hall not too well attended.

Sunday – RC Church services today. Station softball team away to Bagotville for day, losing to Bagotville 10 – 5.

Monday – Bright, extremely warm day. Admin section temporary quarters extremely uncomfortable. Children’s summer school with Mrs. Miller in charge and with volunteers from among the mothers of the unit, began this morning. Heavy rain during the night.

Tuesday – Dull rainy day. F/L Bates and party were here from Command. Heavy thunderstorms all evening.

Wednesday – Dull and rainy. CO out with Search and Rescue on Black Fly Campaign.

Thursday – Dull and rainy all day. New front steps are appearing on many PMQs where weather has worn the cement away. F/O Conroy (RM) here from ADCHQ.

Friday – Heavy rain and quite cold. CO’s Inspection in the morning. Ball game planned with the Auxiliary for this evening rained out. F/O Conroy left today.

Saturday – Lovely summer day for a change. Liberty Run well filled. Dance in the Rec. Hall in the evening well attended. Many Auxiliary personnel left today.

Sunday – Protestant and RC Church services today. F/L MacMillan taking the service in the Protestant chapel. Dull today with rain starting again in the evening.

Monday – Dull and rainy. CO’s Conference held this morning. F/L McMahon, RC Padre, here for the day from Bagotville. Officers Promotion Board held this afternoon in CO’s office. F/C Kelly reported in for two months from London.

Tuesday – Cloudy day with some sunny patches. CO at the tower most of the day regarding exercise. F/L Harris reported back from Cold Lake. S/L Dewan, the new COpsO, arrived on the unit today.

Wednesday – CO away today. Bright sunny day for a change. Summer School children getting into the pool for a change. F/O Beesley and F/L Rutherford (the new SMO) reported in today. The Airwomen held a party in the Lounge to welcome the new PAdO.

Thursday – Beautiful warm day. Pool a very popular place. Softball game in the evening well attended. Orderly Room busy with many leaving on posting.

Friday – CO’s Inspection in the morning. CAdO away to Chicoutimi on station business in the afternoon.

Saturday – Lovely summer day. Pool a very popular spot. Station softball team away for Molson’s Trophy Tournament and were defeated 2 – 1. Station dance in the Rec. Hall not too well attended.

Sunday – RC Church service held today. Bright sunny day turning cool in the late afternoon with rain most of the night.

Monday – CO away on one weeks annual leave. Dull rainy day. Orderly Room is extremely hot and uncomfortable. Painting and maintenance work being carried on in PMQs on the station.

Tuesday – Cold and dark. No CO’s Conference as W/C Snider away on one weeks annual leave. Inspector arrived to approve new Admin Building today.

Wednesday – Still dull and cool. Rain in the late afternoon. Word received that we can move into the new Admin Building this weekend.

Thursday – Bright summer day. F/O Tracy (Welfare Officer) here from Command. Some packing going on in preparation for move to new building.

Friday – CO’s Parade in the morning. Moving day for the Admin Section to new Headquarters Building.

Saturday – Bright summer day. Many to town on shopping tours. Cpls. beat Airmen in exhibition ball game. Dance in the evening fairly well attended.

Sunday – RC and Protestant Church services this morning. This was F/L Thompson’s (Protestant Padre) last Sunday serving this unit as he has been transferred to Rockcliffe.

Monday – Rain and thunder storms began in the early morning. Fire alarm sounded during the night caused by a short in the wiring. Electrician still working on it during the day. CO back after a weeks annual leave. F/C Stone reported in today.

Tuesday – Bright sunny day. CO’s Conference this morning. All Admin Section enjoying the space and facilities of the new Admin Building. Foxes again made havoc of the garbage cans in the PMQ area.

Wednesday – Dull dark day. CO at tower part of the day. Pay Parade made many smiling personnel with raise in pay in effect.

Thursday – Dull wet day. F/L Thompson (Protestant Padre) reported on the unit today. S/L Nevin arrived on the unit today. Also Capt. RW Anderson from ADCHQ.

Friday – Dull, wet and cold. CO’s Inspection in the morning. Many leaving the station for the long week-end.

Saturday – Bright and warm. Sgt. and Mrs. Slater welcomed a son in the station hospital.

Sunday – RC Church services today. Violent rain and thunder storms. Cubs brought back a day early because of violent storms.

Monday – Extremely cold during the day and night. Northern lights very bright. Most of the long weekend holiday spent indoors.

Tuesday – Weather continues extremely cold with very cold rain. F/L FD Williams reported in from ADCHQ on TD. F/L Thompson (Protestant Padre) back on the unit.

Wednesday – Dull extremely cold day. CAdO away to Quebec City part of the day. F/L Williams left today. F/O MG Abbott reported in today.

Thursday – Still extremely cold but getting much warmer during later afternoon. Station quiet. Foxes again made mess of garbage cans all over the station.

Friday – CO’s Parade in morning. CO’s Inspection also in morning. Bright warm day.

Saturday – Dull and cold most of the day. No Liberty Run because of shortage of ME Vehicles due to breakdown. Record dance very quiet in Rec. Hall.

Sunday – Proposed ball game with Bagotville rained out. Service in RC and Protestant chapels today. F/L Kenneth Thompson, Protestant Padre, here for the services in August was very well received.

Monday – Exceptionally cold and rainy day. S/L Mock CTSO away on leave. F/L OH Hack here on TD from ADC.

Tuesday – CO’s conference in the morning. Cold weather continues.

Wednesday – Extremely cold with showers and high winds all day. F/L OH Hack left today. F/L Thompson left for St. Sylvestre for Church services held there this weekend.

Thursday – Bright sunshine most of the day – a most welcome change. Most of the PMQ area has now had repairs done to walks and driveways.

Saturday – Station quiet. No Liberty Run because of shortage of serviceable vehicles.

Saturday – Station Picnic supposed to have been held in the clearing across the river – held in the Rec. Hall because of rain. A very successful day with all ages from the "Diaper Derby" up taking part.

Sunday – RC Church services held today. Dull showery day.

Monday – Labour Day – bright weather for a change. Swimming meet held today, with Airmen’s Mess the victors. Dance in the Rec. Hall in the evening. F/O KJ Brind arrived from Beaverbank.

Tuesday – Steady rain today. No CO’s Conference because of the long weekend.

Wednesday – Rain off and on all day. Road in front of station being worked on and very muddy and soft.

Thursday – Dark and rainy all day. CO and CAdO away to Quebec City for the day. Major F Leger, AJAG, Quebec City, here for the day. Construction work on road made it necessary to halt the buses at the CE Section at 1700 hours and tower personnel had to walk the rest of the way to the townsite.

Friday – Patches of sunshine during the morning. Work still continues on the road in front of the station. F/O CV Grady here on TD from Moisie.

Saturday – Saguenay – LAC St. Jean Cub Rally held at Mont Apica today, with Mont Apica’s first Laurentide Pack winning the day with 28 points. Dance in the Rec. Hall in the evening not too well attended. First Liberty Run in several weeks went to Quebec City.

Sunday – RC Church services today. Bitterly cold in the afternoon with showers most of the evening.

Monday – Bright sunny fall day. First Women’s Auxiliary meeting of fall season held this evening. F/L Miller’s wife became the new President for the 57-58 season. F/O DR Adams and F/O A Wiereleychuk here from Winnipeg.

Tuesday – Bright fall day. CO’s Conference held this morning. Rain in the late evening.

Wednesday – Dull rainy day. New Admin Building had cement walks completed today.

Thursday – Dark, miserable day. Operations under way to move flagpole to front of new Admin Building. Word received that W/C Roger would be on the station for Battle of Britain Sunday.

Friday – Pay Parade and CO’s Inspection in the morning. Dull with rain off and on all day. F/C Kelly left after summer training for home and university.

Saturday – Liberty Run not too full today. Dance in the Rec. Hall in the evening not well attended. Quiet weekend.

Sunday – W/C Roger, Command Chaplain (P), was on the unit for the observance of Battle of Britain Sunday. CO’s Parade held at 1045 hours with Church services following. Cubs away today to Quebec Zoo.

Monday – Heavy rain during the night continuing all day. Weather warm and sticky. CAdO away – F/L Pus on leave.

Tuesday – Rain in the morning clearing in the afternoon. Muddy condition at entrance to station still causing trouble to vehicles. CO’s Conference held this morning.

Wednesday – Bright fall day. F/O Tracey, Welfare Officer, was here from Command for the day.

Thursday – Cloudy with scattered showers. Station fairly quiet. F/L Horton, Protestant Padre, arrived during the evening.

Saturday – Dull rainy day. Record Dance held in the evening in the Rec. Hall was very quiet.

Sunday – RC and Protestant Church services held today. F/L Horton, Protestant Padre, had a comparatively large congregation notwithstanding the steady downpour of rain. Guides and Brownies away to Quebec Zoo for the day.

Monday – Rain off and on all day. W/C Trischuk arrived here from Command today.

Tuesday – Sudden violent rain and wind storms during the night with same continuing through the day. Extremely cold even some snow. S/L and Mrs. Dewan welcomed a baby boy in the station hospital, also F/O and Mrs. Standing welcomed a daughter.

Wednesday – Cold and rainy all day. G/C Pollard and S/L Kennedy here for the day. Torrential rains made roads very difficult in the area.

Thursday – Snow in the early morning but followed by bright sunshine. Admin Party held in the evening for staff members leaving this month. F/O Dockendorff cleared from the station today. Fine weather turned into several snow squalls late in the day.

Friday – CO’s Inspection this morning. The sod for the new Admin Building being laid in the middle of a heavy snowstorm. Cpl. and Mrs. Lofgren became proud parents of a baby girl. Airmen/Airwomen Dining-In Night held tonight.

Saturday – Sunny all day, but cold and blowing. Sgt. Murphy’s Orchestra at Dance in the Rec. Hall. A tragic automobile accident took the lives of two station personnel in the early hours of Sunday morning. Dead are LAW Beale and Cpl. "Whitey" Gettis. LAC Hunt, driver of the car, was seriously injured.

Sunday – Lovely fall day. Station much shocked by tragedy of the early morning. RC and Protestant Church services held today. Bagotville basketball team here for game in the evening.

Monday – Bright warm day. Many details for the shipping of the remains of the Airwoman and the Corporal who lost their lives over the weekend. Cpl. Gettis was sent home tonight with a bus going in with personnel to pay their last respects.

Tuesday – Another lovely fall day. Final preparations made to send AW Beale’s remains home tonight. CO’s Conference held this morning.

Wednesday – Cold and wet fall day. Memorial Services held for AW Beale in the Protestant Chapel and for Cpl. Gettis in the RC Chapel.

Thursday – Dull cold day. Major Leger here in the early part of the day.

Friday – CO’s Parade and inspection this morning. Dull and cold during the morning turning warm and sunny in the afternoon.

Saturday – Bright fall day. Liberty Run well filled. Dance in the Rec. Hall not too well attended.

Sunday – RC Church services today. Protestant Sunday School began again for the fall season today with WO Dove as Superintendent.

Monday – Bright fall day. Special showing of "Guys and Dolls" in the station theatre was well attended. News received today that LAC Hunt, injured in car accident a week ago, had regained consciousness during the day.

Tuesday – CO’s Conference in the morning. CO away to Quebec City in the afternoon.

Wednesday – Bright fall day. Station quiet.

Thursday – Dull most of the day. Snow flurries in the late evening with heavy wet snow during the night.

Friday – Dull and rainy – many going away for Thanksgiving weekend. Padre Horton arrived for Thanksgiving weekend.

Saturday – Fine weather again. Liberty Run to Quebec City well filled. Record Dance in the Rec. Hall quiet. Outbreak of flu among personnel.

Sunday – RC and Protestant Church services held today. Protestant Sunday School held in the afternoon.

Monday – Thanksgiving Monday. Quiet holiday on the station. More cases of influenza noted among personnel and school children.

Tuesday – CO’s Conference held in morning. Dull weather continues.

Wednesday – "Flu" epidemic keeping the hospital staff extra busy. F/L Rutherford, the SMO, became the proud father of a baby girl at St. Joseph d’Alma.

Thursday – Several more "flu" cases on the station. Theatre closed tonight because of epidemic.

Friday – Steady cold rain all day. CO’s Inspection in the morning.

Saturday – Station quiet, movies and Saturday dance cancelled because of flu epidemic.

Sunday – Cold and snowy all day. RC Church services today. Protestant Sunday School not held because of flu epidemic.

Monday – Word received early this morning that a serious accident about 10 miles from the station, took the life of Mr. Bosse of Des Laurier Construction Company and two other civilians. Mr. Couture, driver of the car, was seriously injured. At about 6:30 pm another car was involved in an accident just beyond the camp – resulted in the death of a passenger in the car. The CO left this afternoon for St. Hubert.

Tuesday – Dull and cold most of the day. W/C Snider and S/L Dewan at St. Hubert today.

Wednesday – Steady rain all day. CO and S/L Dewan back after trip to St. Hubert. Flu epidemic slowing down. First Bingo of the season held in the Rec. Hall.

Thursday – Dull wet day again. F/L Horton, Protestant Padre, arrived on the unit for the weekend. Several Senior NCO’s left for Quebec City for the day to attend Mr. Bosse’s funeral (accident victim of Monday morning).

Friday – CO’s Inspection in the morning. Cold day with snow and freezing rain. Airmen had a very successful Social Evening in their Mess.

Saturday – Cold but bright day. Liberty Run to Quebec City. No dance in the Rec. Hall. Station quiet.

Sunday – Protestant and RC Church services today. Protestant Sunday School held in the afternoon. Movie "Anastasia" shown in station theatre had difficulties because of machine trouble but was shown anyway with many stops to change reels. Cpl. Paquette and his wife welcomed their eight child, a girl, in the station hospital.

Beautiful warm day. CO away flying today. Still several flu cases around the station.

Tuesday – Dark cold day with snow flurries most of the day. CO’s Conference not held this morning. F/L Pus away flying this week. Flu cases still cropping up on the unit. Ladies Bowling League began tonight.

Wednesday – Dull cold day with rain. Bowling League begins winter season tonight.

Thursday – Pay Parade in the morning. Dull and rainy. Station quiet.

Friday – Twenty four Flight Cadets from Winnipeg toured the station. CO and COpsO to Bagotville. Fine weather.

Saturday – Liberty Run to Quebec City. Halloween party for children in the Rec. Hall and dance in the evening. Sunny and warm.

Sunday – RC Church service and Protestant Sunday School. Raining and cool.

Monday – F/L Harrington and F/L Tanner visiting from ADCHQ. Beginning to snow.

Tuesday – Still snowing. CO’s Conference held this morning. A baby boy was born to FS and Mrs. Bates.

Wednesday – Weather mild. Intermittent snow. Bingo was held in the Rec. Hall. Only 50 people attended.

Thursday – Lots of snow but very mild weather. Road conditions treacherous. F/O Tracey – Welfare Officer, here today. CO left on vacation to Puerto Rico.

Saturday – Liberty Run to Quebec City. Dance in the Rec. Hall to the Juke Box. Overcast skies and intermittent rain.

Sunday – RC and Protestant services held this morning. Protestant Sunday School in the afternoon. W/C Rogers and W/C Gallagher arrived for a few hours from ADCHQ. It rained off and on all day.

Tuesday – Dull rainy day. Station Bowling League well under way. All other sports activities – volleyball, basketball and hockey are in full swing. Cpl. and Mrs. MacSephney welcomed a baby son in the station hospital.

Wednesday – Station quiet – normal routine.

Thursday – Snowing heavily all day. Station quiet.

Friday – Still snowing. Winter looks as if it is here to stay.

Saturday – Everyone out on the CO’s hill with toboggans and skis. The semi-finals (East-West football games) were played with Hamilton and Winnipeg in the play offs for the Grey Cup.

Sunday – Cold and snowing. Services in both Protestant and RC chapels. "The James Dean Story" shown at station theatre in the evening.

Monday – Padre Horton departed today for his home of Wolfville, NS, after a two months stay at Mont Apica. The temperature dropped to around minus 10 degrees during the night.

Tuesday – Another cold day with temperatures below zero. Everyone has started wearing their parks and flight boots.

Wednesday – Not quite so cold today. The sun is shining. It is a beautiful winter day. The Airmen’s Promotion Board is sitting today.

Thursday – Cloudy but mild. Snow slushy. Station quiet.

Friday – Snowing heavily but still mild. CO’s Inspection this morning. Farewell party for F/O and Mrs. Janes in Officers Mess.

Saturday – Two buses to Quebec City today to watch the Grey Cup game on TV. Winnipeg lost to Hamilton 32 to 7. Still snowing.

Saturday – Mogul (413) Squadron departed for Cold Lake and went direct to Scooter as Scabbard was released for emergency maintenance at 1307Z to replace the EW Kit. The CPS-6B was operational at 2212Z.

Sunday – The EW Kit was serviceable at 0740Z. At 2034Z, VL9N was made unknown – strength 1 – speed 180 – EC 3020. Tactical action was taken by VN. Flight Cadet Turcotte, AS/FtrC, was taken on strength from the Primary Reserve.

Monday – At 1603Z VL went on emergency maintenance (drive) and became operational at 1625Z. At 1727Z a Mayday call was heard from Hamlet 19 – Scabbard answered and were advised that Hamlet 19 had contact with Ottawa tower. He had a flameout in the OW area. W/C Snider and F/L Montrose departed for ADCHQ to attend Chancelight briefing.

Tuesday – W/C Snider and F/L Montrose returned from ADCHQ.

Wednesday – A Big Photo aircraft "Wedding 53" completed Big Snow run on VL.

Thursday – At 2033Z emergency maintenance until 2210Z.

Friday – At 0234Z and ECM run was made on VL by Wedding 12. At 1520Z Largo requested 7 aircraft (armed and podded) on 15 minutes – at 1504Z Largo advised that a state of Alert existed. A total of 10 aircraft were scrambled on CAP before the return to normal state at 1730Z. At 2340Z Rhino 16 called in for pigeons – he had a single engine failure – Rhino 16 landed safely.

Saturday – VL7L made unknown – strength 1 – heading south – speed 120 – angels 7 – Rhino 1 was diverted after VL7L but was unsuccessful. VL8 made unknown at 1425Z – speed 200 – angels estimated 16. One CF-100 scrambled but scramble cancelled when VL8 identified friendly by late flight plan.

Sunday – VL11L made unknown at 1514Z – speed 160 – angels 16. Identified friendly at 1524Z.

Wednesday – F/O Healey-Ogden left on TD to Lac St. Denis to attend a Surveillance conference.

Thursday – F/L Montrose went to the Surveillance conference at Lac St. Denis. VL11 made unknown at 2020Z – It was identified by interception by VN – and had been made unknown by VL in error.

Friday – At 0038Z, WG1 AA, was passed as unknown. It was intercepted by Rhino 3 and 22 who were diverted and identified as friendly.

Saturday – F/L Largo and F/L Bevans arrived on TD from 2405 AC&WS at Halifax for a period of summer camp training. F/L Montrose returned from Lac St. Denis.

Sunday – At 2100Z, VL12L was made unknown. It was made friendly by qualified observer visually from Bagotville tower.

Monday – F/O Healey-Ogden returned from Lac St. Denis. F/O Harris departed on TD to the Controller Proficiency unit at Cold Lake.

Tuesday – Considerable ECM activity by Fricasie 2. 1 MI (Mogul 19) and 4 MA’s (Rhino 8 and 20)

Wednesday – At 0117Z, Wedding 17 completed a Big Snow run. At 0555Z the alert was sounded. At 0634Z, eleven controllers were in the tower. At 0708Z, Wedding 17 commenced Big Snow run. At 0850Z the All Clear became effective.

Thursday – At 0535Z a GObC sightingFKNN5007 was advised by Largo and all fighters were ordered to land. At 0555Z, there was an MCL penetration by 4 aircraft. Six aircraft were scrambled for Scooter control. Stand down at 0819Z.

Friday – At 0103Z a Record Run commenced by Wedding 33. At 0209Z VL7L was made unknown and Mogul 7 and 23 were diverted on it. VL7L was identified friendly by interception. At 0610Z Wedding 33 commenced Big Snow run and was intercepted by Rhino 1 and 17.

Saturday – At 1558Z, VL10N was made unknown and identified friendly by flight plan at 1611Z. At 2021Z, VL15N was made unknown – it was identified friendly by Largo (AS&A) when speed dropped to 110 K. F/L Miller departed for Ottawa on electronic computer course.

Sunday – F/O Bullock departed on TD to Bagotville for cross training.

Monday – F/O Bullock returned from Bagotville.

Tuesday – F/O’s R Kadonoff and RF Garber arrived on TD from Bagotville for cross training. At 1300Z the first of the Random flights (B) was taken over from Crystal and at 1430Z the last flight (G) handed to Crowbar. Rhino 6 and Rhino 22 were successfully scrambled against a B-47 overfly.

Wednesday – F/O’s Kadonoff and Garber returned to Bagotville. Three Broadcast Control exercises were run.

Friday – W/C Snider departed on TD to Bagotville.

Saturday – W/C Snider returned to Bagotville. Unable to return to Ops/GCI until 1635Z due to VC – MDS – went on daily maintenance at 0851Z. F/L Largo and F/O Bevans returned to Halifax.

Monday – F/O G Standing was awarded a permanent commission. F/O’s RW Healey-Ogden, GS Machen, WE Bullock and JG Harris were promoted to the rank of Flight Lieutenant. F/L Miller returned from Ottawa. A B-47 overfly – exercise Sharp Point – commenced at 1518Z and two missed intercepts were noted in 10 commitments.

Tuesday – The overfly commenced at 1528Z and 2 MI’s were recorded out of 9 commitments.

Wednesday – At 0230Z exercise Ajax commenced and only three successful runs were made in 9 commitments. Some misses were due to ECM. At 1550Z a second overfly commenced in which 11 MA’s and 5 MI’s were scored. F/O’s Ruttan and Hamel arrived on TD from 432 Squadron at Bagotville for cross training. F/O FB McAndrews was taken on strength on arrival from St. Sylvestre.

Thursday – F/O’s Ruttan and Hamel returned from Bagotville. Flyover for tonight is cancelled.

Friday – At 1810Z Mogul Bravo was scrambled against exercise Sharp Point. 3 MA’s and 1 MI obtained.

Saturday – At 2323Z the unit went on emergency maintenance (CPS-6B).

Sunday – The IFF on the CPS-6B was unserviceable for most of the morning until 1635Z. Two unknowns during the day were identified as small light aircraft.

Monday – A B-47 DF102 appeared and four Mogul aircraft were diverted from a Harlequin exercise. There were 2 MA’s and 2 MI’s due to evasive action.

Tuesday – At 1357Z an alert was called and attacks were made against B-47s until the Cocked Pistol ceased at 1713Z.

Friday – Attacks were flown against B-52 aircraft operating south of the border. Emergency maintenance – wave guides. VL27L made unknown at 2334Z – identified friendly by interception by Rhino Alpha lead.

Saturday – Exercise Everglades – a B-47 overfly took place and Mogul 21 and 24 each got an MA.

Sunday – Three Rhino aircraft were diverted on to a B-47 (Texas) and all obtained MA’s.

Monday – S/L Dewan, Air/P, arrived from 416 Squadron at St. Hubert to take over duties of COpsO.

Tuesday – F/L Harris returned from Cold Lake. At 0640Z Nelson 31 commenced a Big Snow run. At 1250Z the alert was sounded and a state of Cocked Pistol prevailed. Exercise Cue Ball" released from Cocked Pistol at 1740Z. At 1858Z VL24 was made unknown and identified friendly at 1928Z by Rhino 20 (interception).

Wednesday – F/O EP Temple, AS/FtrC, was struck off strength on posting to Aylmer. F/O MA Beesley, AS/FtrC, was taken on strength on posting from Lac St. Denis. F/L Bullock departed on TD to Bagotville and returned the same day. At 0527Z Nelson 22 commenced a Big Snow run.

Thursday – Exercise Fur Collar took place but no tactical action by Scabbard.

Friday – At 0211Z aircraft were scrambled for exercise Ajax for a total of 4 MA and 2 MI. Maintenance period extended for emergency maintenance.

Saturday – Three pairs of Rhino aircraft were scrambled by Scabbard against 3 Fakers. At 2115Z VL23 was made unknown. Punchbowl 14 and 3 were diverted and intercepted an aircraft which was not the unknown – unknown landed at Quebec City (Bonanza on local). At 2339Z VL26 was made unknown and identified friendly by revised flight plan. F/L Machen went on TD to Sector.

Tuesday – At 0908Z, three aircraft were scrambled on Frogman 12 but attacks were broken off at 10 seconds for safety reasons. Exercise "Dawn Dance" started at 1811Z. At 2100Z a record run was completed by Texas 42.

Wednesday – F/L’s Bullock and Montrose departed on TD to St. Hubert to attend a debriefing on Exercise "Caveman". At 0543Z a record run was completed by Texas 61. Mogul 7 was successfully scrambled against track DD 25.

Thursday – F/L Bullock returned from St. Hubert. At 1727Z Mogul Tango was successfully diverted against three B-52s (Adams). At 2023Z Mogul 4 intercepted 1 B-47.

Friday – F/L Montrose returned from St. Hubert. At 1830Z a Big Snow run by Texas 61.

Monday – Mogul 2 scrambled to intercept VK 96 – VC 621 (1 MA) – VC 436 has flameout south of Bagotville – lands OK.

Tuesday – At 0111Z Mogul Zulu (3 aircraft) was airborne and intercepted DG 14 (B-47) 2 MA’s – 1 MI.

Wednesday – Two pairs of aircraft scrambled on 1 B-47 at 0425Z.

Thursday – At 1005Z the first of the Chopstick aircraft going overseas (Operation Nimble Bat) were taken over from Scooter and the last section was handed over to Crowbar at 1116Z except for Golf section which was delayed at North Bay and handed to Crowbar at 1917Z.

Friday – The EW Kit was again off the air for several hours emergency maintenance. Four fighters were committed against a B-47 overfly (Exercise Venice) and all had MA’s.

Saturday – F/O McAndrews departed on TD to the Controller Proficiency school at Cold Lake.

Sunday – At 0842Z Anchorman 1 was handed over from VN and handed over to WG at 0911Z. This aircraft carried General Partridge of ASAF/ADC. At 1432Z the unit went on emergency maintenance with magnetron trouble.

Monday – At 1938Z VL13L was made unknown but was not scrambled in (tactical decision).

Wednesday – F/O MG Abbott, AS/FtrC, taken on strength from Lac St. Denis. At 0820Z Largo advised that there was unusual air activity west of 3 Sector – increased surveillance scanning until 1030Z.

Friday – At 1038Z VL11A was unknown due to poor flight plan correlation. It was identified friendly 50 seconds later on PX and revision. At 1802Z an ECM exercise with Fricasie 100 commenced. It terminated at 2001Z. Fricasie 100 (a ground based jammer) commenced again at 2201Z until 2359Z.

Saturday – At 0630Z Fricasie 100 commenced jamming until 0720Z and again from 1800Z to 1847Z.

Sunday – At 2135Z Largo advised that a DC-4 aircraft was missing between Montreal and Quebec and that Search & Rescue aircraft would be in that area. At 2330Z the craft was reported sighted by Largo 1 – 15 miles SE of Quebec – disintegrated.

Monday – F/L Machen returned from 1 ADCC.

Wednesday – Four aircraft scrambled against a B-47 obtained 2 successful LCC and successful identifications. From 1642Z to 1712Z off for emergency maintenance. At 1828Z four aircraft were scrambled at 40,000 feet against B-52’s. 2 MA’s – 2MI’s.

Thursday – At 0400Z, exercise "Dawn Dance" was held. This was a full scale Broadcast Control exercise. At 1231Z the unit was released for annual maintenance.

Friday – F/L Bullock departed on TD to Caswell AFB for cross training. F/O McLean departed on TD to Bagotville for cross training.

Saturday – F/O McLean returned from Bagotville. F/L Miller departed on TD to Bagotville for cross training.

Sunday – F/L Miller returned from Bagotville. F/O Sauve departed on TD to Bagotville for cross training.

Monday – F/O Sauve returned from Bagotville. F/O Beesley departed on TD to Bagotville for cross training. F/O Brown was struck off station strength on posting to Falconbridge.

Tuesday – At 0847Z two unknowns – VL6N and VL7N were detected. These were re-designated Keystone Whiskey by Largo as Fakers for USAF radar.

Wednesday – F/O Beesley returned from Bagotville. F/O AT Wood, AS/FtrC, was taken on strength from Lac St. Denis. At 2100Z Scabbard became Ops/GCI.

Thursday – F/O RS Hodson, AS/FtrC, was taken on strength from Falconbridge.

Friday – At 1245Z, Fricasie 2 commenced jamming. He was intercepted by Mogul 10 and 21 (1 MA – 1 MI). At 1439Z 3 fighters were scrambled to intercept a B-47 (2 MA’s – 1 MI)

Saturday – F/L Bullock returned from Caswell AFB. A dance was held in the Officers Mess attended by 30 Auxiliary Officers and their wives.

Sunday – F/O McAndrews returned from Cold Lake. At 0505Z a radar power failure occurred. Ops/GCI at 0625Z.

Monday – The EW Kit again caused trouble and the unit went on maintenance for three short periods.

Tuesday – At 1814Z the antenna stopped rotating until 1817Z. This was inadvertently caused by an electrician.

Wednesday – At 2047Z, exercise Tight Rein commenced and 2 MI’s, 4 MA’s were obtained.

Thursday – At 1521Z the radar went off because of power failure until 1527Z. At 1535Z VL19 was made unknown. It was identified by intercept – made unknown due to delay at ATC.

Friday – A Mayday squawk was detected at 0249Z – 098 degrees at 120 miles. Rhino 4 was diverted and intercepted the squawker (Rhino 18) bringing him to Bagotville where he landed at 0326Z (VHF failure).

Monday – F/O KJ Brind arrived from Beaverbank on TD to obtain intercept experience prior to attending a course at Yuma.

Tuesday – F/L Healey-Ogden, AS/FtrC, was struck off strength on transfer to Parent.

Thursday – At 1830Z, 2 pairs were scrambled against exercise Birchtree (B-52) 3 MI’s – 2 MA’s.

Friday – F/O Brind returned to Beaverbank. F/O CV Grady arrived on TD from Moisie to obtain intercept experience prior to attending course at Yuma. At 1256Z VL14L was made unknown (no flight plan). It was intercepted and identified friendly. At 1505Z VL17L also became unknown and was identified friendly at 1534Z on a flight plan revision. At 1922Z VL29L also was made unknown until a flight plan revision at 1939Z. At 2151Z VL35 was made unknown until identified friendly on information from Bagotville at 2204Z.

Saturday – F/C Turcotte, AS/FtrC, was struck off strength on transfer to the Primary Reserve. At 1454Z, VL7L became unknown – speed 110K – angels estimated 5 – identified friendly speed and angels by Largo.

Sunday – F/O Scott accompanied by 3 airmen departed on TD to Eaglebeak for cross training.

Monday – At 1027Z, VL15A became unknown and was identified friendly by a flight plan revision at 1037Z.

Tuesday – F/O DA Calman, AS/FtrC, taken on strength on transfer from Trenton. At 0119Z, VL6L made unknown to be identified friendly by intercept at 0143Z. Two fighters were successfully scrambled against Wedding 14 (B-47) at 2225Z. At 2246Z, VL24 became unknown to be identified friendly airspeed and angels, at 2254Z on a revised ground speed.

Thursday – At 0112Z, Mogul 12 squawked Mayday (no VHF) and Rhino 20 was vectored in on him successfully. At 1538Z VL6 was made unknown to be identified friendly at 1551Z on a revised flight plan. At 2359Z we were advised of fuel contamination at Bagotville. Mandatory scrambles only.

Friday – F/O Scott and 3 airmen returned from TD at Eaglebeak.

Sunday – At 2254Z VL16 was made unknown until identified friendly at 2305Z (late flight plan).

Tuesday – VL5L was made unknown at 1448Z until identified friendly at 1458Z (late flight plan).

Wednesday – F/O TM Anderson, AS/FtrC, was taken on strength from Foymount. At 1922Z Wedding 22 commenced a Big Snow run on VL.

Thursday – At 0344Z there was an Air Defence Warning test originated by ADC/COC.

Friday – Largo advises that all bases will be on mandatory scramble only (hydraulic trouble). At 1646Z VL8L was made unknown until identified friendly by intercept (VK) 1 B-47. At 1652Z VL9L was made unknown until identified friendly by intercept (AD).

Monday – F/O CV Grady departed for Moisie.

Tuesday – F/L Machen and F/O Wood departed on TD to Bagotville for cross training. At 1425Z VL4L was made unknown until identified friendly at 1434Z (late flight plan). Exercise Gamecock took place but no tactical action – three flights refuelled near VL.

Wednesday – F/L Machen and F/O Wood returned from Bagotville. F/O Anderson and F/O Hodson departed on TD to Bagotville for cross training. Exercise Gamecock again refuelled near VL.

Thursday – F/O Anderson and F/O Hodson returned from Bagotville. Unable to finish weekly maintenance in 6 hours due to blower trouble.

Friday – At 1232Z the Azimuth drive failed and went on emergency maintenance. Unable to return by ETRO.

Saturday – F/O GG Dockendorff, AS/FtrC, was struck off strength on posting to Edgar. F/O JR Moore, AS/FtrC, was taken on strength on posting from Edgar.

Sunday – F/L Harris and 3 airmen departed on TD to Eaglebeak for cross training. At 1340Z mandatory scrambles were lifted but Scabbard still off the air.

Tuesday – Rhino 7 scrambled on VA2L, an unknown, but scramble cancelled when VA2L identified friendly by qualified observer.

Wednesday – At 0310Z, VL went off the air for regular maintenance and was unable to return as the azimuth drive once more became unserviceable. F/O Sauve to Cold Lake.

Thursday – Still off the air.

Friday – At 0240Z the antenna began to rotate but remained in release state until 1600Z. At 1500Z Mogul 14 squawked Mayday. Mogul 1 was vectored in and contacted Mogul 14 visually at 1524Z. F/L Gingras arrived for two weeks summer camp training (from Quebec Auxiliary).

Saturday – At 2356Z, Rhino 14 was brought to 5 minutes because of VL22L, unknown.

Monday – Two Mogul fighters were scrambled separately against Fricasie 3 – a C-119 jamming AI radar.

Tuesday – At 0710Z the EW Kit became unserviceable until 2256Z.

Thursday – At 1724Z two pairs of Rhino aircraft were scrambled against exercise "Birch Tree". Each pair had 1 MA and 1 MI. At 2325Z a squawk IV was detected and Mogul India Lead made contact at 2350Z.

Friday – Two fighters were scrambled against Fricasie 25, an ECM aircraft,

Saturday – At 1842Z, initial contact was made with YE21 (the Royal Flight) and the aircraft came under surveillance at 1844Z. The Queen’s aircraft was handed over to X-tal at 1923Z.

Sunday – At 2309Z the antenna stopped and VL went on emergency maintenance.

Monday – VL became Ops/GCI at 0408Z. At 1435Z, Mogul 9 was scrambled on VL3L, unknown. He searched the area of lost contact in poor visibility without success.

Wednesday – At 1425Z VL went on emergency maintenance until 1655Z.

Thursday – Cocked Pistol in effect at 1405Z – Alert sounded – two aircraft were scrambled after two Canberra’s. The mission was accomplished.

Saturday – F/L Harris on TD to 1 ADCC. Emergency maintenance from 0225Z to 0400Z and from 0630Z to 0900Z. ECM exercise with Fricasie 25 at 1730Z. A Broadcast Control exercise also held.

Sunday – Emergency maintenance 1325Z to 1537Z. Mogul 26 had 4 MA’s against Fricasie 25.

Tuesday – Rhino 7 and 25 were scrambled against Fricasie 3, ECM.

Wednesday – Mogul 2 was scrambled against a B-47 exercise and had 2 MA’s and 1 MI. Mogul 3 and Rhino 16 were diverted to VL14L, unknown, which faded prior to intercept.

Friday – At 1635Z, Mogul 9 was scrambled under controller 9 against VL7, unknown. VL7 was identified as 1 TWA L-1049.

Monday – At 0935Z VL went on emergency maintenance until 1300Z.

Tuesday – Mogul 13 aborted from an exercise with control trouble and landed safely at Bagotville at 1455Z.

Friday – Exercise "Cold Wind" – VL recovered 8 Fakers (of 100) and 6 fighters. At 1710Z VL15 was made unknown – Rhino 8 scrambled at 1717Z and VL15 was identified friendly by intercept at 1738Z.

Saturday – At 1535Z the weather forced Bagotville to mandatory scramble only.

Tuesday – Punchbowl Alpha (one aircraft) and Punchbowl Bravo (two aircraft) at 2007Z from St. Hubert to hit Blacksheep 28 and 29 acting as Fakers – Results 3 MI’s.

Wednesday – Emergency maintenance taken from 2207Z.

Thursday – Rhino November and Rhino Oscar and Mogul Mike (each strength 2) scrambled at 0116Z against Fakers. Mogul November had 2 MA’s. Mogul Mike 1 MA and Rhino Oscar – 2 MI’s. Exercise "Birchtree" took place and Mogul Bravo had 2 MI’s while Mogul Charlie had 2 MA’s.

Wednesday – At 2208Z, TT24 was believed to be missing but he landed at Uplands, having failed to cancel his flight plan.

Friday – An MCL penetration reported at 1920Z – 2 CF brought to 5 minutes and later released.

Saturday – At 1826Z a complete power failure occurred. At 1837Z power restored.

Sunday – At 1546Z, Rhino 26 returned to base – smoke in cockpit – landed safely GCI-GCA at 1513Z.

Tuesday – At 1648Z an aircraft brought on 5 minutes for MCL penetration. Released at 1652Z.

Thursday – An ECM exercise "Barn Door" was held and 3 CF were committed.

Saturday – At 0523Z the CPS-6B VC went unserviceable – blower trouble.
