Gap Filler Programme
Please refer to my letter of even file dated 10 August this year which set out the revised land acquisition details of the RCAF Gap Filler Programme.
A review of the programme and deferment implications has been carried out during the past two weeks and it is now anticipated that construction at the 20 sites listed as Group "B" in the appendix to my letter will be commenced during 1963. At the time of my writing to you on 10 August it appeared that the deferment would be for a longer period of time. A change in our plans for the property acquisition phase of this project now appears mandatory if we are to obtain the high ground requried for the Gap Filler installations and I would be pleased if you would direct your Regional Managers immediately that they are to obtain options on the properties making up the sites and access roads at the 20 locations. These agreements or options should provide for our acceptance of the owner's offers of sale or a limited interest until 31 December, 1963.
I hope that the change in our plans for the acquisition of land at these sites will not cause any serious disruption in the work planned by your Regional Managers. I assure you that your co-operation in this phase of the Gap Filler programme is appreciated.
